I read the book and was curious about a few unmentioned topics. As far as brain structure is concerned Dr. Benzedine wrote that the homosexual mind structure was more similar to that of the female brain. In "deviant" brains are there always the same structural differences? The chapter on free will, which I also believe in, was not, I am guessing, intended to explain away differences as "choice" instead of organic brain hardwiring? Choice, to me, refers in how you wish to pursue, or live, your particular "bent". If men are the predominant followers of bestiality, why does Leviticus single out women and why is zoo porn mostly about women? Other than the fact that people find studying "abnormal" non reproducing sexual strategies distasteful why is there little research going on regardless? Aren't the practitioners of birth control devices then part of that group? I agree that science studies are seldom appreciated for the topics that are evaluated. The truth almost always hurts. But in order to know who we are we need to look at these sexual options for what they are and how they are constructed. In my mind Jesse did not go far enough into the topics he raised. Did he not write the book for scientists as well as the lay public? Why did he not distinguish between animal sexual processes such as where desire comes in, or where the instinctual mechanics participate with or without the intellectual motivation. Individual and cultural expressions of sexuality vary and the question of drive. How does that add to the mix. Maybe Jesse owes us a follow-up book. I am glad that he is studying these issues since I study genetics and molecular biology, and often ask myself the question about how does life perpetuate itself and fundamentally create living strategies to avoid reproducing. The use of stillbirth to delete genetic accidents is not foolproof. "Monsters" are born regardless. Ancient civilizations practice exposure for children born not up to snuff. That process was abused as a form of birth control as Aristotle and Plato commented that they had come across very healthy looking babies left out in the wideness in this practice. "Junk" DNA is apparently the site for control sequences that are highly active in embryonic stages of development. How is the DNA component responsible for the differences found in the sexually active adult?
